Richard Dwayne Hollis, President General, 2025-2027
Welcome to our website. We are glad that you joined us.
Joy cometh to genealogists with the discovery of a new Antebellum ancestor, especially when it entwines our family tree with the roots of a friend. In a delightful way, it unites us and enables us to enjoy our shared culture of those by-gone days with others of our ilk. The NATIONAL SOCIETY SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF ANTEBELLUM PLANTERS 1607-1861 is one of my favorite lineage groups. I am deeply honored and consider it an esteemed privilege to serve as your 14th President General 2025-2027.
Richard D. Hollis is a tenth generation Tennessean through Thomas Ridley. In 1775, 6th great-grandfather James Hollis, Sr. recorded the 21st deed in what is now Tennessee. He was a North Carolina Militia Captain in the Revolutionary War, serving at Watauga. He was a Defender of the Frontier when he joined Col. John Donelson’s Flotilla (Rachel Jackson’s father) by helping transport, defend, and feed about 300 women and children from Upper East Tennessee to settle Nashville, a 1,000-mile journey by river, during winter.
Over the past 45 years while serving in countless leadership roles, I have grown devoted to the notion that every meeting should be viewed as an entertaining event, filled with memories of fun. Who wants to attend a boring meeting? So, let’s work together to find ways for our meetings to be informative and entertaining.
Communication will be a priority during my administration. In addition to our annual meeting, we’ll also have ceremonies to mark two plantations with beautiful brass commemorative medallions. Announcements will be made in advance, we hope you will plan to attend.
Lastly, remember to invite your friends and family to join Antebellum Planters as members. Increased membership is essential for our group’s strength. And, please, do not hesitate to contact me anytime you have any questions, ideas, or suggestions. I am eager to hear from you!
Kindest regards,
Rick
